Technical Consulting
Honest technology advice with no jargon and no agenda. I help small business owners make confident tech decisions without getting taken advantage of.
What you get
A technical advisor who's actually on your side.
Plain-English explanations
I'll never make you feel dumb for asking a question. My job is to help you understand your options clearly so you can make a confident, informed decision — not to show off technical knowledge.
No vendor relationships or commissions
I don't get paid to recommend any particular platform or product. My only goal is to help you make the right call for your business. If the honest answer is that you don't need a developer, I'll tell you.
Short, focused engagements
You don't need to hire me for a 6-month retainer. A single call, a written review, or a one-time technology audit can give you the clarity you need to move forward confidently.
Independent, unbiased advice
I have no stake in what you choose. Whether that's a $10/month tool or a custom-built solution, I'll tell you what actually makes sense for where your business is right now.
Written summaries available
After a consulting session I can provide a written recap of what we discussed, what I recommended, and why — so you have something to reference when it's time to act.
Ongoing retainer available
If you want a technical advisor in your corner on a regular basis — someone to bounce ideas off, review proposals, or help prioritize your tech investments — I offer simple monthly retainers.

Platform & Software Comparisons
Trying to choose between Shopify and WooCommerce? QuickBooks or FreshBooks? I'll lay out the real trade-offs for your specific situation — not a generic blog post comparison.
Technology Roadmapping
If you know you need to modernize your tech but don't know where to start, I'll help you build a practical, prioritized roadmap that fits your budget and timeline.
Second Opinions on Developer Quotes
Already talking to a developer or agency? Get an independent read before you commit. A second opinion on a large project can save thousands.
Process Improvement Advice
Sometimes technology isn't the answer — the process itself needs fixing first. I'll help you figure out which problems technology can actually solve and which ones it can't.
Bad Agency Recovery
If you've been burned by a bad build, I can review what was delivered, tell you honestly what the problems are, and help you find the most cost-effective path forward.
Pre-Purchase Due Diligence
Before you sign a contract with a new vendor, SaaS platform, or hosting provider, let me review the terms and pricing. I'll flag red flags before they become expensive problems.
FAQ
Questions about consulting.
- How is this different from just Googling my question?
- Google gives you generic answers. I give you an answer specific to your business, your tools, your budget, and your goals. There's a big difference between knowing what WordPress is and knowing whether WordPress is the right choice for your situation.
- What does a consulting call cost?
- The initial 30-minute onboarding call is free — no strings attached. After that, consulting is billed at an hourly rate we agree on upfront before any work begins. For written reviews or audits, I'll provide a fixed quote beforehand so there are no surprises.
- I've already been burned by a bad agency. Can you help?
- Yes — this is one of the most common reasons people come to me. I can review what was built, tell you honestly what the problems are, and help you figure out the most cost-effective path forward.
- Do I need to be technical to have a useful conversation?
- Not at all. Half of my value is translating technical concepts into plain business language. You just need to know what problems you're trying to solve.
